  • Knowledge of commercial, construction, real estate and consumer loan products; familiarity with RESPA, HMDA and related policies

Job description

The Commercial Note Department Associate will be a highly motivated and resourceful member of the Commercial Note Department and will handle complex commercial and consumer loan documents ensuring completeness and accuracy in accordance with credit/bank policy and State/Federal Regulatory requirements. This role requires someone with strong follow-through skills who is adaptable and embraces change. Responsibilities include working closely with the Lending Team and attorneys to manage the loan closing process, boarding loans, monitoring and enforcing post-closing exception items, and controlling the disbursement of loan proceeds by ensuring adherence to loan approval requirements. May participate in special lending-related projects as directed by Senior Management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • 3. Boards all types of loans, ensures ticklers are documented and maintained. Performs loan maintenance on bank system, reconciles non-posted items and processes loans payments including participation payments.
  • 4. Provides back-up support as needed for construction draws including supporting reports, vouchers, change orders submitted by Voucher Control Agents and disburse based on percentage of completion. Tracks construction budgets.
  • 5. Processes and tracks loan collection expenses, vendor fees, and other professional fees.
  • 6. Assists lending team, lending support team and clients in resolving inquiries relating to loan servicing and billing issues/discrepancies.
  • 7. Trains junior loan servicing staff in functions as needed.
  • 8. Reviews daily and monthly loan reports.
  • 9. Monitors Loan Servicing inbox and contacts clients directly regarding past due loan payments, address changes, autopayments, credit references and provides clients with requested documents and loan statements.
  • 10. Archives and maintains records according to the bank’s retention policy.
  • 11. Provides back-up for scanning loan files and other documents as needed.
  • 12. Assumes responsibility for various department functions in the absence of staff members or in overload situations.
  • 13. Compiles information for Senior Management and assists in audit preparation.
  • 14. Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The position of Commercial Note Department Associate is not responsible for supervising employee.

MENTAL DEMANDS

This position requires the ability to accommodate reading documents or instruments, detailed work, problem solving, customer contact, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, multiple concurrent tasks, and constant interruptions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an acceptable 4 year college or university and at least 2 years of commercial real estate loan documentation experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of commercial loan servicing and loan documentation processing background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
  • Advanced computer skills including proficiency in LaserPro and LaserPro Processing Set-Up, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Foxit and various internet search engines.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial, construction, real estate and consumer loan products including knowledge of related state and federal lending and compliance laws and regulations and other Bank lending policies.
  • Intermediate knowledge of title policies and related loan regulations such as RESPA, HMDA and other Bank lending policies on loans to directors.
  • Advanced knowledge of lending procedures and have the ability to read, analyze and interpret business policies, and technical procedures.
  • Highly detailed oriented and accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Intermediate math skills; ability to calculate interest, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, train personnel, write reports, correspondence and procedures, speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations and work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time, operate a computer, and telephone.
  • This position requires writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 50 pounds), driving, carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling and reaching.
