Job summary

Astound is seeking a Commercial Network Technician to perform maintenance, troubleshoot and support enterprise network infrastructure. The role requires after-hours work during maintenance windows, travel to hubs and customer locations, and collaboration with engineering teams to resolve complex issues.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years as a commercial customer technician, a valid driver's license, and experience with Ciena, Cisco, Juniper, Meraki, and fiber/OTDR technologies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years experience as a customer technician (commercial).
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work in stressful environments.
• Travel to various hubs, towers, and customer locations.
• Experience with Enterprise Network equipment: Ciena 3924, Cisco ASR920/5501, Juniper, Meraki WAP.
• On-call rotation experience.
• Knowledge of fiber types, OTDR, light meters and scopes.
• Be open to learning and change.

Responsibilities

• Work before and after business hours and during maintenance windows.
• Complete routine maintenance, weekly backups, daily orders and tickets in a timely manner.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems.
• Follow established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Collaborate with corporate engineering, IPD, other markets, and manufacturers to assist in designing circuits and resolve complex issues.
• Interpret, analyze and execute corporate engineering designs.
• Travel to hubs, towers, offices, and customer locations within our footprint.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

A Day in the Life of the Commercial Network Technician:

• Work before and after business hours and during maintenance windowsand outages
• Complete routine maintenance, weekly backups, dailyordersand ticketsin a timely manner
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems
• Follow established procedures and guidelines for maintenance
• Follow necessary safety procedures
• Ability to work individually and with a team in a stressful and demanding work environment
• Interpret analyze and execute corporate engineering designs
• Work closely with corporate engineering, IPD, other markets, and manufacturers of engineers toassistin designing circuits and resolve complex technical issues
• Other duties as assigned

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Base Salary: The base salary range for this position is $26.00 - $42.00 per hour, plus opportunities for bonus and benefits, if applicable. The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities.
