Qualifications

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; P&L management experience preferred.
  • Strong problem solving and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment; manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee grain origination and trading activities at the location.
  • Execute commercial strategies to meet regional goals for volume, margin, and profitability.
  • Manage facility financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and new trades.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities and risk mitigation.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of merchandisers.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture with accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide development opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Operations Manager to ensure safe, efficient operations.
  • Collaborate on capacity planning, logistics, and inventory management.
  • Support safety program implementation in line with standards.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, producers, and partners.
  • Negotiate contracts and develop tailored solutions to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand market presence.

The Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing commercial origination, trading activities, and business development for a specific location within the grain commodity industry. What You'll Be Doing
  • Manage grain origination and trading activities at the location.

  • Identify & pursue new business opportunities to expand the company's market presence/ increase market share.
Skills / Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree MBA in Marketing, Finance, Ag Business, Ag Economics or Economics is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in grain origination, commodity trading, or related roles, with a strong track record of leadership.
