Job summary

HDR is actively seeking a Commercial Manager to oversee contract and financial management on critical water infrastructure projects in California. You will support Project and Program Managers, negotiate terms, and ensure compliance with HDR policies.

The role requires a strong background in contracts, project controls, and leadership, with the ability to mentor others and work in a fast-paced environment. HDR offers employee ownership and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, business, law or equivalent.
• 7+ years in Architecture/Engineering/Design-Build/PM or equivalent.
• Experience developing contracts, administering and negotiating changes.
• Knowledge of contracting practices and regulations in country of work.
• Ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-performing team.

You will support Project and Program Managers by providing guidance and assistance related to contract and financial management.

The Commercial Manager is responsible compliance with the terms and conditions of prime and subcontracts, assisting in negotiating the terms and conditions of contracts, and documenting and agreeing to changes or amendments that may arise during the implementation or execution or other project duties as delegated by the Project Manager. The Commercial Manager, working with the Project manager is responsible for staffing and commercial management implementation on the projects where additional commercial management support is needed. The Commercial Manager will provide guidance and assistance to Project Managers on contract matters. The following job description describes the responsibilities of the Commercial Manger on projects on which they are assigned:

Responsibilities

• Implement procedures for contract management and administration in compliance with HDR policy.
• Lead Project Management related mentoring and training activities.
• Collaborate with Project/Program Managers to administer on-going contracts.
• Monitor contract documents and reviews for conformance.
• Manage and/or collaborate with a project team consisting of schedulers, project analysts, document control manager, project accountants and project / commercial management coordinators.
• Lead and/or support preparation of subcontracts for engineering, planning, and specialty services.
• Review proposals and contract documents with a focus on identifying and minimizing conflicts and ambiguities.
• Prepare correspondence and work with project coordinators and accountants to maintain records necessary to document the effective administration of contractual matters.
• Collaborate with Project/Program Managers to identify contractual implications of change orders and quality control conformance.
• Monitor schedule for submission of deliverables and other contractual deliverables and certifications.
• Lead and/or support development of weekly and monthly project progress/status reports.
• Track financial aspects of projects and work with Project/Program Managers to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to scope, budget, and schedule.
• Support WBG leadership and Project/Program Managers in a proactive and responsive manner.
• Support alternative/collaborative delivery Projects/Programs.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with California State agencies (CA DWR, DGS, etc..)
• Alternative/collaborative delivery experience
• Contract and risk management experience
• Familiarity with Accounting Software
• PMP certification

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of 7 years\' experience in Architecture/ Engineering, Design-Build, P3, project management, construction, project controls and/or staff leadership or equivalent
• A bachelor\'s degree in engineering, architecture, business, law or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of Architecture/ Engineering/ Construction industry contracting practices in the country(ies) the Commercial Manager works in, applicable government and commercial regulations and practices, policies, procedures and work practices.
• Working knowledge of project controls, project management, and project estimating software
• Experience in development of contracts, administration and negotiation of change orders, effective correspondence, planning and scheduling.
• Ability to work well in a high performing team structure in a fast-paced environment.
• A positive professional reputation as one who can deliver quality, cost effective projects.
• Self-starter; good communication and people skills.
• Must be committed to quality and improvement and promoting HDR\'s values.
• Ability to teach, lead, and mentor others.

The expected compensation range for this position is $119,042.00 - $193,250.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
