The Commercial Loans and Business Development Officer is responsible for the development of new commercial business and expanding existing commercial customer relationships. This position makes and services a variety of commercial and commercial real estate loans and maintains a high quality loan portfolio to minimize credit loss to the bank. Ensures compliance with bank lending policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a quality commercial loan portfolio to obtain the bank’s loan growth objectives. Evaluates, analyzes, and interprets data regarding real property, investments, pricing, market stability, and future trends, by means of information provided within securities publications, financial materials and documents, and prospective customer interviews. Counsels with customers throughout the loan process.
  • Provides/supports the commercial credit analysis process such as the clear development and presentation of cash flows, collateral valuations, capital ratios, liquidity ratios, leverage ratios, borrower industry information and any other appropriate information included in the credit risk assessment process.
  • Summarizes data expressing current and long-term trends in credit risks, as well as calculable economic pressures relevant to the current credit condition of the market. May conduct research to further support decisions and make analyses to compare varying degrees of risk for potential losses. May suggest alternative lending measures during unfavorable financial trends.
  • Negotiates terms and structures and underwrites loans with lending authority authorized by the Board of Directors. Monitors loan portfolio to correct loan document exceptions and services the loan portfolio to reduce past dues and charge offs
  • Responsible for ensuring loan and deposit growth to obtain the bank’s growth objectives by promoting the bank’s products and services. Monitors and makes decisions on assigned loan and DDA accounts related to late fees, overdrafts, service charges, return items, charge backs, etc. for commercial customers.
  • Communicates and implements new ideas and marketing strategies within the market area to improve sales, cross-sells, marketing, and staff development, as assigned.
  • Implements corporate culture through reinforcement of quality service and teamwork.
  • Develops commercial business through expansion, retention, and development strategies.
  • Ensures compliance with bank lending policy and procedures and regulatory procedures.
  • Represents the bank in civic and community activities to promote the image of the bank in the branch market area.

Qualifications

·Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related filed or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

·Broad knowledge and experience in administration, documentation and collection of all types of loans; thorough working knowledge of the bank’s operations and customer service programs; and a strong familiarity with the bank's overall policies and procedures.

·Understanding of State and Federal regulations and compliance requirements.Ability to research and interpret local, state and federal legislation as it relates to the lending field, including collection and credit card law.

·Good decision making skills, ability to organize tasks for maximum performance, self-motivated, and knowledge of various types of checks, endorsements and regulations.

·Must demonstrate strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

·Adept at carrying out complex oral and written instructions; ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing and submit timely and complete reports as needed.

·Sales orientation and community mindedness with the ability to meet the public, project a professional attitude and demeanor, and develop new business.

·Skillful at working effectively with customers, fellow employees and the general public.

·Proficient computer software skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel.

·Ability to perform all duties effectively and ethically with little supervision.
