Job summary

Arvest Bank Group in Lawton, OK is seeking a Commercial Loan Assistant I to support lenders in originating and closing high-quality commercial loans. The role includes working with borrowers, reviewing legal descriptions and closing documents, and coordinating with legal counsel and vendors.

Responsibilities cover obtaining credit information, ensuring adequate collateral, processing disbursements, and maintaining loan files.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of banking or equivalent related experience required.
  • AA/AS degree preferred.
  • Regulatory knowledge including privacy, safeguarding customer information, Regulation B, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Regulation Z, Truth in Lending, CRA, HMDA, and flood regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist commercial loan customers both in person and via phone calls.
  • Assist Commercial Banker in obtaining corporate entity information, and related loan documentation, including but not limited to, title searches/commitments, UCC searches, and flood determinations, appraisals for new loans.
  • Review loan documents before closing (legal descriptions, closing dates, loan documents prepared in-house or by legal counsel, etc.) and close loans with customers. Serve as liaison with legal counsel, borrower and third-party vendors in coordinating receipt and review of required documents to expedite the closing process.
  • Obtain credit information and ensure sufficient loan collateral on commercial loans.
  • Recognize selling opportunities and effectively cross-sell bank products and make referrals.
  • Perform post-closing reviews to ensure that loan files contain documents with proper signatures, dates and other relevant data.
  • Disburse loan funds after closing and image loan documents within established timelines. Provide ongoing support to foster customer relations. Ensure ongoing maintenance of loans in the system to meet customers' and the bank's needs.
  • Communicate with Group Appraisal and Loan Operations regarding loan processing. Provide information efficiently so loans can be processed promptly for customers. May also communicate with the Consumer Loan Division (CLD) on consumer loans.
  • Work the Technical Exceptions (TE) list to ensure that bank security interests in the files are perfected promptly.
  • Annually obtain updated financial information and insurance to support outstanding loans.
  • May also support other lending functions to meet the departmental needs.
  • Process, vet, and approve outgoing wire transfer requests with an established approval limit, ensuring proper approval and documentation are obtained before submission.
  • Understand and comply with bank policies, laws, regulations, and the bank's BSA/AML Program, as applicable to job duties. This includes, but is not limited to, completing compliance training, adhering to internal procedures and controls, reporting any known violations of compliance policies, laws, or regulations, and reporting any suspicious customer and/or account activity.
  • Other duties and special projects may be assigned.

Availability is needed Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with ability to work additional hours as needed.

The Commercial Loan Assistant 1 provides support to one or more lenders on commercial loans, performing functions that enable lenders and managers to originate high-quality loans for the bank.

Experience
  • 2 years of banking or equivalent related experience required.
  • Working regulatory knowledge, such as privacy, safeguarding customer information, Regulation B, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Regulation Z, Truth in Lending, CRA, HMDA, and flood regulations required.
  • Relevant military experience is considered for veterans and transitioning service members.
  • Loan experience preferred.
  • AA/AS degree preferred.
  • Arvest experience preferred.
Education
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Credentials
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Commercial Lending, or the ability to obtain it within 90 days, is required.
