Job summary

McMichael Taylor Gray, LLC seeks a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney with experience in New York foreclosure law to join its expanding New York practice. The candidate must be based in New York and have prior experience representing creditors in commercial foreclosures.

Strong preference for candidates with knowledge of receiverships and complex foreclosure litigation. Newly admitted applicants will be considered, with a focus on individuals eager to learn these practice areas.

Qualifications

  • Admitted to practice in New York. NY federal courts and other states a plus.
  • Experience in real estate, mortgage, and/or commercial litigation strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of FDCPA, RESPA, TILA a plus.
  • Willingness to learn foreclosure and real estate law if not already experienced.
  • Excellent communication and written skills; ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and management of high-volume statewide commercial foreclosure matters.
  • Act as liaison between the firm, clients, vendors, outside counsel, courts, and trustees.
  • Manage files within applicable foreclosure rules and firm timelines.
  • Prepare and present pleadings and other legal documents.
  • Argue merits of assigned cases at hearings, conferences, mediations, or trials.
  • Attend and/or conduct public auctions as needed.
  • Review title searches to identify title issues and proper parties to serve.

McMichael Taylor Gray, LLC is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate Attorney with experience in New York foreclosure law to join its expanding New York practice. The employee MUST BE BASED IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK. The ideal applicant will be a career-oriented professional with at least one year of experience representing creditors in commercial foreclosures and/or title proceedings. Newly admitted applicants will also be considered with a strong desire to learn these practice areas. Experience with receiverships, complex commercial foreclosure litigation, and creditor-side bankruptcy experience is strongly preferred. The applicant must have the ability to prioritize and manage numerous tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, communicate professionally at all times, be effective working independently and as part of a team, and provide exceptional customer service. Leadership and management skills is a plus.

Requirements

Key Job Duties:

  • Provide oversight and management of high-volume statewide commercial foreclosure matters.
  • Ensure all appropriate actions are taken to expedite the firm’s files.
  • Act as a liaison between the firm and clients, vendors, outside counsel, courts, trustees, and other foreclosure personnel.
  • Manage files by applicable foreclosure rules and firm-established timelines.
  • Work within the firm’s case management system to create, manage, and review daily and weekly reports.
  • Review and execute various pleadings and correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate updates in client and firm management systems.
  • Outline, prepare, and present pleadings and other legal documents.
  • Argue the merits of assigned cases at hearings, conferences, mediations, or trials.
  • Attend and/or conduct public auctions as needed.
  • Review title searches to identify any title issues and to determine the proper parties to serve.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Admitted to practice in New York. Admitted to practice in New York's federal district courts and/or other states a plus.
  • Experience in real estate, mortgage and/or commercial litigation strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of FDCPA, RESPA, TILA, as well as any applicable state and federal debt collection and real property law a plus.
  • Experience in foreclosure and real estate law a plus; if none, must be willing to learn.
  • Exceptional communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in legal research, writing, and document drafting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining client confidentiality.
  • A portable book of business is a plus.
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
