Overview
I am working with a leading Am Law–ranked law firm who is looking to hire a Commercial Litigation Associate to join its Chicago office.
This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high‑stakes business disputes for sophisticated clients, with meaningful responsibility and strong mentorship from experienced trial lawyers.
The Opportunity
The associate will handle a broad range of commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts, with exposure to significant disputes from early case strategy through trial preparation.
Key responsibilities
- Managing all phases of commercial and business litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, and trial support
- Drafting substantive motions, briefs, and discovery
- Taking and defending fact and expert depositions
- Participating in hearings, mediations, and arbitrations
- Working directly with partners and clients on case strategy and risk assessment
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 2+ years of experience in commercial or complex litigation
- Background at an Am Law firm or highly regarded litigation practice preferred
- Experience with federal and/or state court litigation
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, and case‑management skills
- Illinois bar admission (or ability to obtain promptly)
