Job summary

Horizon Bradco - A Smart Care Solutions Company is hiring a Kitchen Equipment Service Technician to support Albany-area customers with service, repair, and preventative maintenance of commercial cooking, refrigeration, warewashing, and related equipment.

You will interpret diagrams, diagnose issues, order parts, and perform installations while adhering to safety standards. On-the-job training and a company vehicle are provided to support daily field work.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant certifications.
• Experience with commercial refrigeration, cooking, warewashing equipment is preferred.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair commercial kitchen equipment including cooking, refrigeration, warewashing.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment and systems on customer sites.
• Read diagrams and schematics to guide repair work.
• Install parts and routine maintenance in a timely, professional manner.
• Communicate with manufacturers for parts and diagnoses as needed.
• Maintain accurate work orders, time reporting, and inventory records.
• Follow safe work practices and maintain a clean service vehicle.
• Participate in emergency on-call rotations and overtime as required.

KITCHEN EQUIPMENT SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Compensation: $33-$41

About the Role:

As a Kitchen Equipment Service Technician, you will become a trusted advisor to your customers by consistently delivering innovative solutions to predict and prevent kitchen equipment failure, contributing to the success of thousands of restaurants, hotels, hospitals and other commercial customers.

What Will Your Day Look Like?

• Partner with grocery, restaurant, and hospitality managers to offer comprehensive service solutions for commercial cooking, refrigeration, ware-washing, and other specialty food service equipment.
• Demonstrate your mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills and ability to read diagrams and schematics.
• Properly troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair Commercial Kitchen Equipment, including cooking, refrigeration, ware-washing and other specialty food service equipment.
• Communicate with manufacturers as needed to help with diagnoses and parts identification.
• Consult with the Technical Assistance Group for technical support while onsite.
• Install all parts ordered for the customer in a timely and professional manner and in line with company policy.
• Promote and recommend other services provided by Smart Care to customers when needed.
• Produce accurate and timely administrative documents, such as work orders, time reporting, receipts, and truck stock inventory.
• Follow safe work practices and accident prevention procedures.
• Maintain a neat and orderly service vehicle, along with accurate parts and tool inventory.
• Maintain productivity levels in accordance with company standards.

Required Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one (1) year of technical experience in commercial refrigeration, appliance repair, food service equipment, HVAC, or military service.
• Valid state issued Real ID driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on commercial food service equipment, including refrigeration, cooking, beverage, and warewashing equipment.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain all licenses, certifications, registrations, and other credentials required by applicable federal, state, and local laws to perform assigned job duties.
• Willingness and ability to participate in an emergency on-call rotation, including nights and weekends.
• Availability for occasional overnight travel as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant technical training, licenses, and certifications, including EPA Section 608 Certification, CFESA certification, and/or applicable trade licenses.
• Experience servicing commercial refrigeration and/or commercial cooking equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical, gas-fired, steam, and mechanical systems.
• Self-motivated with a proven ability to prioritize work and perform independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to frequently kneel, bend, squat, push, pull, reach, and occasionally lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
• Ability to work with moving mechanical parts, pressurized steam equipment, open flames, heated surfaces, liquids, and risk of electrical shock in damp, humid, or freezing conditions.
• Ability to work on ladders, roofs, and in rare cases, high, precarious places.
