Job summary

Total Comfort Group is seeking a Commercial HVACR Field Service Specialist to diagnose, repair, and maintain complex HVAC systems across MD, DC, and VA. You will load a company vehicle, visit customer sites, interpret schematics, and ensure safe, efficient operation.

Clear communication with customers and internal teams is essential as you handle startups, testing, and documentation. Requires 3+ years of HVAC service experience, EPA Universal Certification, a clean driving record, and BAS/DDC

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial HVAC service experience
• EPA Universal Certification (required)
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Proven electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capabilities
• Hands-on experience with RTUs, split systems, package units, heat pumps, air handlers, and ventilation equipment
• Familiarity with BAS, DDC, and HVAC controls (preferred)
• Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC HVAC-related licenses/certifications (a plus)

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC/R systems and equipment at customer locations.
• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and in-depth system evaluations.
• Service RTUs, split systems, package units, heat pumps, air handlers, and related gear.
• Resolve electrical, mechanical, refrigerant, airflow, controls, and building automation (BAS/DDC) issues.
• Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation with accuracy.
• Handle startups, functional testing, commissioning, and verifying proper system operation.
• Communicate findings, repair recommendations, deficiencies, and maintenance needs to customers and internal teams.
• Complete work orders, service tickets, and documentation accurately and on time.
• Follow company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices at all times.
• Participate in an on-call rotation as needed.
