Job summary

The City of Lubbock is seeking a skilled HVAC Technician to operate, maintain, and repair commercial heating and cooling equipment, including refrigerants. The role requires on-call availability and adherence to EPA 608 standards.

You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex systems, maintain EPA 608 logs, and contribute to capital improvement planning while ensuring compliance with state and federal HVAC codes and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience with commercial HVAC systems and EPA 608 certification.
• Valid Texas driver’s license required.
• Knowledge of refrigerant handling per EPA 608 standards.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and use multimeters.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, system adjustments, troubleshooting, and basic repairs on HVAC systems.
• Overhaul seasonal HVAC operations and support system transitions between heating and cooling.
• Assist with component replacements and complex system issue resolution.
• Maintain records of inspections and repairs per codes and standards.
• Develop EPA refrigerant compliance processes and logs per 40 CFR Part 82.
• Inspect equipment to evaluate operating conditions and prepare assessments.
• Assist in capital improvement planning and equipment replacement scheduling.
• Operate within CMMS and coordinate with facilities and bidders as needed.
