Job summary

HTS Engineering Ltd. seeks a Service Technician to manage installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of commercial HVACR systems in Austin, Texas. The ideal candidate will have a Technician’s Degree or equivalent, with at least three years of relevant experience, and be familiar with VRF and BAS/DDC controls. Job Title: Service Technician

The Service Technician will work independently or as part of a team, responsible for the installation, startup, troubleshooting, commissioning, and servicing of commercial HVACR equipment, systems, and units.

Job Duties:
  1. Serve existing accounts by analyzing work orders, planning daily travel schedules, investigating complaints, conducting tests, and resolving problems.
  2. Establish service by studying system requirements, ordering and gathering components and parts, completing installation, and performing acceptance tests.
  3. Maintain rapport with customers by examining complaints, identifying solutions, suggesting improved methods and techniques, and recommending system improvements.
  4. Keep personal equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  5. Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  6. Maintain customer confidence by keeping service information confidential.
  7. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
  8. Contribute to operations and organizational goals by completing related tasks as needed.
  9. The job description is not exhaustive; the Service Technician will perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a service vehicle for an HVAC contractor and ability to work with a team.
  • VRF experience is preferred.
  • BAS/DDC Controls experience is desired.
  • Own tools required.
  • Reliable with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Willing to undergo pre-employment screening, including background checks and drug testing.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:

Must be able to handle and lift tools and equipment for air conditioning service work. Regularly required to stand, use hands, handle objects, talk, hear, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally sit. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and more with assistance. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as needed.

Education/Experience:

Technician’s Degree or equivalent from a Technical/Trade School with HVAC certification and at least five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office are required.
