Total Comfort Group is seeking a skilled Commercial HVAC/R Service Technician to join our New Jersey team. You will diagnose, repair, maintain, and install commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment for retail and commercial facilities across our service area.

The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, excellent troubleshooting, and the ability to work independently in the field, with on-call and overtime as needed. Competitive benefits and growth opportunities accompany the position.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of Commercial HVAC/R service experience.
• Graduate of an accredited HVAC technical training program.
• EPA Universal Certification is required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and system inspections.
• Install, replace, and commission HVAC/R equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues.
• Service rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, package units, refrigeration systems, boilers, and control systems.
• Maintain HVAC systems ranging from 1 to 50 tons.
• Identify repair and replacement recommendations for customers.
• Complete service tickets, reports, and required documentation accurately.

Position Overview

As a Commercial HVAC/R Service Technician, you will diagnose, repair, maintain, and install commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment for retail and commercial facilities throughout the service area. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance and system inspections
• Install, replace, and commission HVAC/R equipment
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues
• Service rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, package units, refrigeration systems, boilers, and control systems
• Maintain HVAC systems ranging from 1 to 50 tons
• Identify repair and replacement recommendations for customers
• Complete service tickets, reports, and required documentation accurately
• Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized manner
• Communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, and team members
• Participate in rotating on-call schedules, overtime, weekends, and holiday service as needed
• Follow all company safety procedures and industry standards

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of Commercial HVAC/R Service experience
• Graduate of an accredited HVAC technical training program
• EPA Universal Certification (Required)
• Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
• Strong knowledge of: Commercial HVAC systems, Refrigeration systems, Rooftop units (RTUs), Boilers, Electrical troubleshooting, and Controls and automation systems
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical schematics
• Experience using diagnostic tools, meters, gauges, and testing equipment
• Must provide personal hand tools, gauges, and meters
• Strong customer service and communication skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Frequently climb ladders and access rooftops
• Ability to kneel, bend, crawl, reach, and work in confined spaces
• Lift and carry equipment, tools, and materials as required
• Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
