About This Role

As an Apprentice with Carrier, you will impact our customers by being the face of confidence while ensuring their comfort. You will have the opportunity to learn about Commercial HVAC and work on installations, repairs, and maintenance projects. This role offers the chance to collaborate with a team and also to work independently. It’s ideal for someone passionate about their trade and eager to advance their skills.

Carrier values our partnerships with Union workers and is committed to providing payment for all travel time. Additionally, Carrier offers an on-call schedule that promotes better work-life balance, with rotations every 7-8 weeks in most locations.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• 3+ years practical experience in the HVAC industry
• Ability to enter or be enrolled in the Union Apprentice Program
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work on rooftops
• Ability to stand, crawl, sit, and squat for extended periods
• Valid driver’s license and insurability
• Willingness to join or be enrolled in the union apprentice program

Essential Tasks

• Inspect and maintain air-conditioning units
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues
• Install, repair, and replace HVAC equipment and components
• Maintain refrigeration and water systems
• Adjust electrical and electronic controls
• Assemble and install ductwork
• Assist in planning new HVAC installations
• Maintain safety and compliance records
• Collaborate to ensure safety and efficiency

Knowledge of

• HVAC principles, safety practices, and controls
• Tools, materials, and refrigerant procedures
• Electrical systems in HVAC
• Sheet metal, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry basics
• Building automation controls
