Job summary

Carrier is seeking an Apprentice Service Technician to inspect, diagnose, and repair HVAC systems in the field. You will install equipment, calibrate controls, and service rooftop units while adhering to safety and EPA regulations.

Strong communication and problem-solving are essential as you work outside the desk in a dynamic maintenance environment. Qualified candidates have 1+ years of HVAC experience, a high school diploma or GED, EPA Universal Certification, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 1+ years Commercial HVAC experience.
• Push/Pull/Lift 50lbs.
• Stand, crawl, sit, squat for extended periods; climb ladders; work on rooftops.
• High School Diploma/GED.
• EPA Universal Certification.
• Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and maintain air-conditioning and HVAC systems.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical malfunctions in heating and cooling units.
• Install, replace, and calibrate HVAC equipment, including thermostatic controls and liquid lines.
• Service rooftop units, gas packs, heat pumps, split systems, and related controls.
• Maintain chilled and hot water supply systems and adjust internal control systems.
• Assemble and install metal ductwork and assist in HVAC system planning and design.
• Ensure compliance with City, State, and EPA regulations by maintaining detailed maintenance records.
• Identify and mitigate risks to maintain a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with management to support safety and operational standards.

What you’ll do

Required Qualifications

• 1+ years Commercial HVAC experience
• Ability to Push / Pull / Lift 50lbs
• Must be able to stand, crawl, sit, squat of extended periods of time, climb a ladder, and the ability to work on rooftop
• High School Diploma/GED
• EPA UniversalCertification
• Possess and maintain valid and current Driver’s License and be insurable by the company’s insurance carrier

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic understanding of building automation controls
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Experience using Salesforce and ServiceMax is a plus

Pay Range

The hourly rate for this position is between $15.00 - $30.00 per hour. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
