Job description

Job Purpose

The Commercial Grounds Maintenance Production Manager is a hands-on position responsible for managing field supervisors and crews performing commercial landscape maintenance services. The primary focus is on managing safety, quality, and job hours according to the contracted scope. The Production Manager also promotes teamwork within the company.

Responsibilities

Management and Accounting:

  • Provide hour and material budgets for all crews as a guide for production.
  • Monitor the accuracy of information provided to the accounting system (timesheets and work orders).
  • Oversee equipment inventory and ensure proper servicing.
  • Stay informed of new practices in the green industry and potential sales opportunities.
  • Ensure facilities are securely locked.
  • Use BOSS LM for scheduling and tracking job issues.

Customer Service and Sales:

  • Maintain excellent on-site relations and communication with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Encourage multiple sales from existing clients.
  • Communicate daily with Account Management staff regarding job site progress and issues.
  • Identify opportunities for site improvements.

Production:

  • Supervise and train maintenance field supervisors and crews.
  • Conduct site inspections at least every two weeks.
  • Monitor and coordinate irrigation controller repairs.
  • Review equipment needs and maintenance schedules with the Operations Manager.
  • Participate in safety and general meetings.
  • Ensure safe operation of all maintenance equipment and company vehicles.
  • Collaborate with other Production Managers to ensure consistent quality.
  • Coordinate work schedules, including seasonal demands.
  • Assist with snow removal during winter months.
  • Meet seasonal deadlines set by the Branch Manager.

Horticulture:

  • Ensure crews are equipped and informed to deliver safe, high-quality work efficiently.
  • Promote proper horticultural practices through training.

Personnel:

  • Work with HR to promote and enforce HR procedures.
  • Interview, hire, orient, and train new employees.
  • Participate in intern training programs.
  • Continuously train field supervisors to support company growth.
  • Document absences, tardiness, and disciplinary actions.
  • Conduct performance reviews for staff and supervisors.
  • Enforce company policies.
