KW Power Systems in Miami/Medley, FL is seeking an experienced Commercial Generator Field Service Technician with a strong background in diesel engines and electrical troubleshooting. This role focuses on servicing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial standby generator systems.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, diagnosing engine and electrical issues, testing ATS and controllers, and traveling across South Florida to customer sites.

Job Description Location: Miami / Medley, FLCompany: KW Power SystemsPosition: Full-Time Field Service TechnicianKW Power Systems is seeking an experienced Commercial Generator Field Service Technician with a strong background in diesel engines and electrical troubleshooting. This position requires hands-on experience servicing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial and industrial standby generator systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on commercial and industrial generators.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engine mechanical issues.
• Troubleshoot AC and DC electrical systems.
• Diagnose generator controllers, sensors, wiring, relays, charging systems, and starting systems.
• Troubleshoot and test Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS).
• Perform generator start-up, transfer testing, and operational testing.
• Assist with and perform load bank testing.
• Diagnose generator voltage, frequency, charging, fuel, cooling, and starting issues.
• Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer service manuals.
• Complete detailed field service reports documenting findings, repairs, and recommendations.
• Communicate professionally with customers, building engineers, property managers, and office staff.
• Travel throughout South Florida to commercial customer locations.

Required Qualifications

• Must be bilingual – English and Spanish.
• Experience working with commercial or industrial standby generators.
• Strong diesel engine troubleshooting and repair experience.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of 12V/24V DC control systems and AC electrical systems.
• Experience troubleshooting generator controllers and ATS equipment.
• Ability to use a multimeter and other electrical diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Must be dependable and able to work independently in the field.
• Must be available for occasional emergency and after-hours service calls.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with generator manufacturers such as Kohler/Rehlko, Cummins/Onan, CAT, MTU, Generac, Detroit Diesel, and John Deere is highly preferred.
• Experience with load banks, ATS systems, generator controls, battery chargers, fuel systems, cooling systems, and commercial electrical equipment is a major plus.

This is not an automotive diesel mechanic position. We are specifically seeking candidates with commercial generator and electrical troubleshooting experience.
