PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To investigate claims against insurance or other companies for personal, casualty, or property loss or damages; attempts to effect out-of-court settlement with claimant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Handle complex losses locally unassisted up to designated authority; assist on larger losses, including accounting-based losses (business interruption and stock).
  2. Examine claim forms and records to determine coverage.
  3. Interview claimants and witnesses; correspond via phone or email.
  4. Consult police and hospital records; inspect property damage to determine liability.
  5. Estimate costs for repair, replacement, or compensation.
  6. Prepare reports and negotiate settlements.
  7. Recommends litigation when settlement is not possible.
  8. Attend litigation hearings.
  9. Revisit case reserves to cover probable costs.
  10. Assist in preparing loss experience reports and calculating future rates.
  11. Maintain strong organizational skills.
  12. Possess litigation claims handling experience.
  13. Possess CPCU/AIC designation or actively pursuing it (preferred).
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support quality programs.
  • Travel as required.
Qualifications:
Education & Licensing:

Bachelor's degree preferred; must have IIA-AIC designation and be pursuing another professional insurance designation; appropriate state adjuster license required.

Experience:

At least 5 years of related experience or equivalent.

Skills & Knowledge:
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Timely reporting and customer service skills.
  • Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in teams.
Work Environment:

Accommodations will be considered. Physical and mental requirements include ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, drive, and handle work stress.

Compensation & Benefits:

Starting pay ranges from $60,000 to $84,000 annually, with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k, PTO, and more.
