Job summary

Paycom - ATS in Brentwood, CA is seeking a Commercial Fire Sprinkler Engineer to design and coordinate sprinkler systems for commercial and multi-family projects. You will work closely with the Project Manager to obtain design files, perform site surveys, and ensure plans meet NFPA codes using AutoCAD and SprinkCad.

This full-time role requires design coordination skills, a willingness to train in SprinkCad, and the ability to attend coordination meetings to drive project success.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating project designs and permitting.
• Ability to work with Project Manager to obtain design files.
• Knowledge of NFPA 13, 13R, 14, 20 & 24 preferred.
• Commercial and multi-family project design exposure.

The position requires bringing approved or denied plans to the Project Manager’s attention and assisting in obtaining necessary design files. Key responsibilities include designing and training for both commercial and multi-family projects, learning AutoCAD and SprinkCad, conducting site surveys for accurate sprinkler designs, and attending project-related meetings for design coordination. The role demands flexibility to work full-time on design tasks as needed. Design code and AHJ compliant systems utilizing NFPA 13, 13R, 14, 20, and 24 as applicable, Utilizing AutoCAD and SprinkCAD programs.Direct Supervisor: Multi-Family and Commercial Department Manager• Coordinate project designs and permitting directly to Project Manager• Project Manager will provide and obtain necessary design files• Approved Plans/Denied plans to be brought to Project Manager’s attention as they occur.Engineer Responsibilities:• Identify, track, manage, resolve, and communicate project issues during design process• Attends Department, Project Specific, and Coordination Meetings as needed• Communicate design questions between superintendents and field personnel as needed.• List material consistent with the approved plan as requested• Provide accurate timelines with current projects as requested via email on a weekly basis. Accurate timelines provide Project Manager and Department Manager/Director feedback and allow us to give accurate timelines consistent within the customer desires.• Any other tasks deemed necessary by TDI Management or Direct SupervisorCurrent Expectations:• Design & Train in both Commercial & Multi-Family projects full time as needed.• Learn AutoCAD & SprinkCad• Perform Site Surveys as needed for accurate T.I sprinkler designs• Attend project related meetings necessary for design coordinationGoals:• Become Proficient in utilizing AutoCAD & SprinkCAD programs while designing.• When designing, become proficient in implementing all trades such as Mech, Architectural, Plumbing, Electrical, Structural for an accurate field installation.• Become proficient in utilizing additional AutoCAD tools such as blocks, xrefs, etc.• Become Proficient in codes related to NFPA 13, 13R, 14, 20, & 24Follow this order:1) NFPA 13R2) NFPA 133) NFPA 244) NFPA 145) NFPA 20• Become Proficient in the design and implementation of NFPA 13, 13R, 14, 20 & 24 sprinkler systems.
