Job Description Summary

The Commercial Engines Quality Safety Management System (SMS) Assurance Lead at GE Aerospace demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role, you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

The SMS Assurance Lead will hold responsibilities in the Safety Assurance pillar of the GE SMS System. Responsibilities focus on evaluating the effectiveness of the SMS system by providing insights and analysis of hazards to identify methods and opportunities to improve safety.

As the Commercial Engines Quality SMS Assurance Lead, you will develop and maintain systems, rules, and processes to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements. You will ensure that projects and products meet specified standards, interpret internal and external business challenges, and recommend best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Staying informed of industry trends that may influence work is also essential.

The base pay range for this position is $128,000 - $192,224. The specific pay offered may be influenced by factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary or commission. The posting is expected to close on May 17th, 2025.

Job Details

The position requires up to 25% travel, including international travel.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  1. Design, develop, implement, and continuously improve the GE Aerospace SMS to support safety methodologies for engines, services, systems, equipment, and devices.
  2. Identify elevated risks and threats across the enterprise by analyzing hazard data across sites.
  3. Evaluate and mitigate safety risks inherent to product design, production, and maintenance.
  4. Influence strategic decisions, resource control, and policy formulation within GE Aerospace and with external partners.
  5. Interpret business challenges and recommend best practices for SMS performance and product improvements.
  6. Support enterprise-wide safety culture initiatives and communicate safety strategies effectively.
  7. Collaborate with Flight Safety Teams to measure risk mitigation and ensure objectives are met.
  8. Support internal audits of safety processes and provide SME guidance on safety policies and procedures.
  9. Assess the quality of information from stakeholders and provide technical consultation to improve manufacturing, products, and services.
  10. Present technical data and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  11. Influence team objectives related to service, quality, and timeliness.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in operations or a technical discipline.
Desired Characteristics:
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in operations or a technical discipline.
  • Experience in program management, aerospace safety management systems, and interfacing with regulators like FAA or EASA.
  • Master's degree in science or engineering.
