Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Commercial Electrician II to join our growing team in Wilson, North Carolina.

Key Qualifications

• Minimum five years of relevant electrical experience in commercial or industrial construction.
• Basic math skills and dependable transportation with willingness to commute daily to job sites within a 50‑mile radius.
• Effective communication skills.
• Experience with EMT & GRC conduit installation, MC cable, switch gear, and panel board installations.
• Current state driver’s license preferred but not required; Journeyman license preferred.

Responsibilities

Must be able to work within precise limits and standards of accuracy and perform a variety of duties that often change. Must utilize reason and logic to perform mathematical operations rapidly and accurately and possess a complete understanding of construction drawings and details.

• Direct and work with an Electrician Helper as directed by a Supervisor.
• Accurately install conduit, wire, pre‑fab assemblies, panel boards, light fixtures, devices, and other equipment per layout provided by the Supervisor.
• Minimize waste of materials and assure quality of the installation (no re‑does).
• Follow diagrams and blueprints to ensure concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
• Measure, cut, thread, ream, assemble, and install conduit using tools such as a hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender.
• Pull wire, splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting wires together, and applying terminal connectors.
• Connect wiring to light fixtures, power equipment, motors, devices, and other electrical apparatus using hand tools and power tools.
• Test continuity of circuits and wiring to insure compatibility and safety of components using test instruments.
• Observe functions of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
• Make occasional repairs to faulty equipment or systems.
• Complete required paperwork.
• Monitor safety per Watson Safety Program.
• Demonstrate knowledge of all tools and equipment.
• Demonstrate efficient knowledge of the trade.
• Coordinate installation with other trades.
• Be responsible for procuring materials and proper tools to complete assigned tasks.
• Assist Supervisor or designated person in troubleshooting electrical branch circuits and feeders.

Position Requirements

License: Current state driver’s license preferred but not required. Journeyman license preferred.

Certifications: Applicable federal, state, and local certifications as required by job conditions or by the company.

Education: High school graduate or GED.

Experience: Minimum five years electrical experience.

Working Conditions

• Work in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, or snow.
• Must have personal protective equipment at all times and use company safety procedures.
• Employee’s personal weight with tools cannot exceed the rated weight capacity of ladders used.
• Perform work at various heights, up to 90” from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks and other safe work areas.
• Work in restricted areas such as switch‑gear rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, and crawl spaces.
• Must be able to work 40 hours per week plus overtime as required, including night shifts and out‑of‑town travel if necessary.

• Operate trenchers, lift trucks, aerial lifts, etc., safely.
• Dig trenches using hand tools or power equipment as needed.
• Comply with safe work procedures as outlined in Company Safety Handbook.
• Operate two‑handed tools as required.
• Drive company truck with manual and automatic transmission.
• Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, work site directions, and written instructions.
• Operate and work from mechanical personal lifts (electric or gas powered).
• Assist Supervisor with energized circuits and equipment as outlined in the Company Safety Policy Manual.
• Effectively supervise electrical helpers to complete tasks safely and accurately.

Physical Requirements

• Must hear and see well (either natural or with correction).
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
• Can lift objects up to 100 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 pounds.
• Tolerant to prolonged standing and movement on foot.
• Climb ladders of all types and complete overhead work for extended periods.
• Responsible for securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.
• Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
