Job summary

MCS of Tampa is seeking a Commercial Electrician for a full-time, permanent position in Tampa, Florida. Job Summary

Commercial Electrician – full‑time, permanent position in Tampa, Florida. The role requires reading, interpreting, and executing drawings, schematics, blueprints, and electrical code specifications for commercial electrical equipment installations. Strong communication skills and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, or replace electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber‑optic, line assemblies, lighting, and alternative electrical parts.
• Install, repair, or replace generators and industrial storage batteries.
• Install electrical circuits, panels, conduit, protective devices, switches, and equipment required to accommodate the CEC and/or NEC.
• Install, maintain, and calibrate industrial equipment and connected devices.
• Test electrical equipment and parts for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
• Analyze electrical failures and replace components as needed to minimize production downtime.
• Perform preventive maintenance and testing of electrical systems, including power distribution equipment.
• Correct connections and wiring on equipment controls to prevent harm and dangerous conditions.
• Maintain maintenance records.
• Basic and advanced troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Ability to obtain a Florida State JLA (Jessica Lunsford Act) Badge.
• Journeyman's License preferred.
• Minimum three years of electrician experience.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
• Team spirit and ability to work closely with maintenance, production, and engineering services.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including overtime if necessary.
• Ability to climb ladders.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to operate company vehicles.

Essential Functions & Physical Requirements

• Work may be performed inside large facilities or in the field; conditions may vary (hot, dusty, cold, wet, icy, windy).
• Regular attendance following an established work schedule is mandatory.
• Work any shift or designated hours required; night and weekend work may be required.
• Can climb ladders, work at heights, and use small, confined spaces such as under raised floors, inside closets, and server racks.
• Can sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.
• Can lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Operating in noisy environments with temperatures varying from standard office conditions is required.
• Must be able to operate company vehicles safely; a current passport may be required for overseas travel.

Travel & Work Environment

• Travel requirements may vary; not all positions require travel.
• Travel may involve varied field conditions; overnight or weekend travel may be required.

Security Clearance

• Position may require a US government security clearance.
• Dual citizenship (US and another country) may require relinquishing foreign citizenship to obtain clearance.
