Job summary

IES is seeking a Commercial Electrical Apprentice in Cincinnati to assist with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems on site. You will review plans, support project execution, and help diagnose issues while ensuring safety and adherence to codes.

The role requires basic electrical knowledge, good communication, and the ability to work with senior technicians and across teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical documentation.

• Proficiency in using electrical tools, testing equipment, and related systems.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and electrical codes.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screenings such as background and motor vehicle record checks.
• English speaking, reading, and writing preferred, and required where necessary to perform job duties.
• Maintain professionalism and a positive, respectful demeanor with customers, coworkers, and business partners.

Responsibilities

• Assist with electrical installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work.
• Review project plans, specifications, and work orders to support project execution.
• Support diagnosing and resolving electrical issues in a timely and professional manner.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and electrical codes.
• Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Maintain records and documentation related to electrical work.
• Support project timelines and field operations.
• Monitor equipment and job site conditions for safety and efficiency.
• Assist senior technicians and field operations as needed.
