Job summary

O-Town Compost in Orlando is seeking a CDL Class B driver to join our route-based team. You will operate and maintain a commercial route starting at 4-5 AM, collect and service customers, and ensure timely deliveries while upholding safety standards.

Ideal candidates have experience driving large vehicles, can lift 50 lbs, and provide exceptional customer service with a professional attitude. This full-time role offers a healthcare stipend, 401k match, and growth opportunities in our startup

Qualifications

• CDL Class B required and a clean driving record.
• Experience driving large vehicles.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Available for early shifts starting at 4-5 AM.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong customer service and professional attitude.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean truck and wash the exterior monthly.
• Inspect hydraulics and check fluid levels; lift hood and inspect under the hood.
• Use hydraulic tipping equipment to empty heavy rolling carts into a dump truck.
• Service places like restaurants, offices, and cafeterias.
• Maneuver in tight loading zones and alleyways.
• Empty collection receptacles and replace compostable liners; leave premises clean.
• Operate vehicle following safety rules, OSHA and DOT requirements.
• Cross-train with residential routes.
• Occasionally assist at the composting site with processing.

Job description

• Drivers must have a clean driving record.
• Must complete their route in an efficient and timely manner
• Drivers must practice a professional, constructive, and positive work attitude.
• Must have experience driving large vehicles
• CDL CLASS B - REQUIRED
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Comfortable maneuvering large vehicle, even in tight downtown areas
• Early riser. Commercial routes start at 4-5 AM
• Responsible individual, comfortable working with relative autonomy and minimal oversight
• Previous experience with Trash / Recycling collection is a plus
• Love of exceptional customer service, and a natural sense of hustle
• Detail-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to work independently, multitask and react quickly to changing conditions
• Willing and able to work outdoors in all elements (rain, heat, cold, etc.)
• Committed to communicating regularly and constructively with dispatcher and team members

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a clean truck and wash the exterior monthly.
• Inspect and keep hydraulic tipper greased. Lift hood, inspect under the hood, walk around and check fluid levels and air tires - Use an air gauge and dipstick for levels.
• Using hydraulic tipping equipment to empty heavy rolling carts into a dump truck attachment
• Servicing places like restaurants, offices, and cafeterias
• Maneuvering tight Loading Zones & alleyways
• Emptying collection receptacles and leaving the customer’s location clean and free of debris. Replacing compostable liner.
• Operating collection vehicle in accordance with O-Town Compost Safety Rules, OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws
• Cross Training with Residential Routes
• Helping at the composting site occasionally to process raw food scraps into beautiful black gold.

STARTING PAY/BENEFITS

• Starting pay $24-$28/hour
