The role combines commercial systems and analytics, market and competitive intelligence, lead generation, and targeted customer and channel support. The Commercial Development Analyst will work across the commercial organization to help turn information into action, improve how teams work together, and support growth initiatives across the business. The role will have exposure to a broad range of products, markets, customers, and commercial activities. This role is designed for someone who is curious about how the business works, comfortable working across different teams, and able to identify opportunities to improve tools, processes, and the way information is used. The right candidate will take initiative, learn new areas of the business, and help strengthen how the broader commercial team operates.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support Martin Marietta's safety culture and regulatory compliance by adhering to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Support and improve commercial tools and systems, including CRM structure, data quality, pipeline visibility, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Analyze commercial activity and performance data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities to improve sales and business development effectiveness.
  • Identify and help implement improvements to commercial processes, tools, and coordination across Account Management and Business Development.
  • Maintain and organize market and competitive intelligence, including competitor activity, customer needs, industry trends, and potential growth opportunities.
  • Conduct lead generation, prospect research, market mapping, and targeted customer research using commercial databases, public information, governmental sources, and industry resources.
  • Support targeted customer and opportunity development, including prospective customers, inactive or lost accounts, smaller accounts, and other defined growth areas.
  • Develop and maintain visibility into distributor and channel relationships, including products represented, geographic coverage, market focus, gaps, and areas of overlap.
  • Manage and organize commercial agreements, including NDAs and supply agreements, and track key dates, renewal requirements, and related documentation.
  • Support coordination and follow-through as opportunities move between Business Development, R&D, and Account Management, helping maintain clear ownership, next steps, and momentum.
Travel Requirements

Travel is expected to be approximately 10% to customers, production facilities, industry events, and other Martin Marietta locations.

Requirements
  • Five or more years of experience in sales, customer service, business development, commercial operations, market analysis, or another related business role.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for improvement, take initiative, and move ideas forward with limited direction.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize information, identify patterns, and translate findings into practical actions.
  • Experience with CRM systems, data analysis, reporting tools, or other commercial systems.
  • Ability to conduct customer, market, and competitive research and organize findings into useful commercial information.
  • Strong business judgment and curiosity about how customers, markets, products, operations, and commercial priorities connect.
  • Self-directed, able to work independently, and willing to take initiative to identify opportunities for improvement and consistently move work forward.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across commercial and operational teams while communicating clearly with internal teams, customers, and prospects.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A degree in business, marketing, analytics, engineering, chemistry, or a related field is preferred.
