POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Credit Analyst, you will be responsible for detailed research and credit analysis of complex credit requests in the Commercial Credit Underwriting C&I Regional Department. The incumbent is expected to have comprehensive knowledge of credit & risk analysis, credit rules, structuring of credits, regulations, and documentation, with the ability to exercise independent judgment within established Underwriting Guidelines and Credit Policy. You will work with and assist Commercial Loan Officers on customer calls and deal structuring. Leadership in training less experienced staff and handling more complex assignments will be expected. The role also involves responsibilities outside of credit analysis, such as vendor management, reporting, and special projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare loan approvals, annual reviews, and conduct credit analysis for new requests, modifications, and short-term extensions of existing loans.
  • Participate in customer and prospect calls with Commercial Loan Officers.
  • Conduct third-party research, including industry reports, credit reports, and real estate analysis.
  • Prepare reports and handle special assignments.
  • Assist in third-party vendor management responsibilities.
  • Potential supervisory and mentorship responsibilities for junior Credit Analysts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; MBA preferred.
  • Formal credit training or higher banking education (e.g., Graduate School of Banking, Stonier).
  • 3-10 years of experience in Commercial Banking.
  • Thorough knowledge of underwriting, credit analysis, commercial loan structure, and regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify strengths and mitigate risks.
  • Knowledge of commercial real estate lending, including investment, owner-occupied, and construction.
  • Proficiency in Commercial & Industrial lending, including debt service coverage, cash flow, and budgets.
  • Strong computer skills, including loan origination software and MS Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to conduct meetings, present information, and respond to questions effectively.
  • Understanding of accounting practices, including balance sheets and cash flows.
  • Ability to manage and negotiate with third-party vendors under supervision.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification in Credit Risk or Credit Management.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Mainly performed in a normal office environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Prolonged sitting, lifting 5-10 lbs, occasional bending or overhead lifting.
