Job summary

Stripe is seeking an exceptional transactional lawyer to join its commercial legal team supporting Bridge and Stripe’s fast-growing stablecoin business. The role leads negotiations for complex agreements, advises on fintech regulatory risk, and collaborates with product and engineering to scale products globally.

Ideal candidates will have 8+ years of experience, a US JD, and proficiency with AI tools to streamline legal workflows.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice in at least one US state with a JD.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in-house or in a technology practice group at a top law firm.
• Experience with fintech, crypto or stablecoin regulatory issues.
• Ability to distill complex, nuanced issues into plain language.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration across product, engineering and business teams.
• Experience improving legal processes with AI technology.

Responsibilities

• Lead negotiations for complex and strategic user and partner agreements.
• Advise on commercial and legal issues arising from stablecoin products and international expansion.
• Work with Product Legal and Bridge’s teams to bring new products to market.
• Build and maintain Bridge’s commercial legal infrastructure and playbooks.
• Improve internal processes and leverage AI tooling to optimize workflows.
• Partner with teams across Bridge and Stripe globally, including commercial, operations, product, engineering, tax, compliance, and risk.
• Deliver training and resources to help Bridge’s commercial team sell and support products.
• Be a point of escalation for outside counsel.

What you’ll do

Stripe is looking for an exceptional transactional lawyer to join our commercial legal team supporting Bridge and Stripe’s fast-growing stablecoin business.

Responsibilities

• Support Bridge’s commercial team, leading negotiations for complex and strategic user and partner agreements.

• Advise on commercial and legal issues arising from stablecoin products, new product launches, and international expansion.

• Work closely with Product Legal and Bridge’s product and engineering teams to bring new products and features to market.

• Help build Bridge’s commercial legal infrastructure so the business can scale efficiently, including drafting and maintaining agreements and playbooks, improving internal processes, and using AI tooling to optimize how we work with clients, partners, and users.

• Partner with teams across Bridge and Stripe globally, including commercial, operations, product, engineering, tax, compliance, and risk.

• Help the team provide practical, scalable legal support while working collaboratively across a global Commercial Legal team.

• Develop and deliver training and resources to help Bridge’s commercial team sell and support its products.

• Be a point of escalation for outside counsel.

Minimum requirements

• A clear and concise communicator (in written and verbal forms), who can distill the key risks and explain complex, nuanced issues in plain and simple terms.

• A natural collaborator, able to guide cross-functional teams and drive to a win‑win solution.

• Familiar with the legal issues and commercial risks arising from fintech, stablecoin, hosted data, and technology services.

• A team player who is willing to do what it takes to contribute to the collective success.

• Qualified with good standing membership in at least one US state bar with a JD degree or foreign equivalent.

• 8+ years of relevant experience in‑house or in a technology practice group in a top law firm.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working in payments, fintech, crypto, or stablecoin businesses and knowledge of associated regulatory issues.

• In‑house experience advising high‑growth companies.

• Working knowledge of LLM tools.

• Experience in improving legal processes with AI technology.

• A working knowledge of data protection laws such as CCPA, GDPR, and HIPAA.
