Fireworks is seeking a Commercial Counsel to be a foundational member of its growing legal team. You will own commercial contracting across the deal lifecycle—drafting, negotiating, and closing customer agreements—while advising the GTM organization and handling vendor matters.

This role reports to the General Counsel and collaborates with sales, marketing, and procurement. You will build scalable templates, support a fast-moving sales organization, and leverage AI tools to streamline daily

Qualifications

• 9+ years of relevant experience, mix of law firm and in-house ideal.
• A JD and membership in at least one US state bar.
• Strong command of commercial contracting and negotiations.
• Comfort supporting a fast-moving, rapidly maturing sales organization.
• AI-forward mindset with ability to leverage AI tools to streamline workflows.

About the role

As Commercial Counsel, you’ll be a foundational member of a growing legal team, serving as a trusted partner to our go-to-market organization as it scales rapidly. You’ll own commercial contracting across the deal lifecycle — drafting, negotiating, and closing customer agreements — and show up confidently and credibly across the table with our customers and partners. Beyond core sales support, you’ll also counsel our marketing team on sponsorship and partnership agreements, and handle standard vendor and procurement matters. This role initially reports to the General Counsel.

What you’ll do.

• Serve as lead commercial counsel on customer contracts, NDAs, and related agreements supporting the sales organization.
• Partner strategically with sales teams to structure deals, manage risk, and keep deals moving without sacrificing sound judgment.
• Advise marketing on sponsorship agreements and go-to-market campaigns.
• Handle standard vendor and procurement agreements.
• Help build the scalable templates, playbooks, and processes a founding legal function needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• 9+ years of relevant experience, with a mix of law firm and in-house ideal. Experience in hypergrowth environments preferred.
• A JD and membership in at least one US state bar.
• Strong command of commercial contracting, able to operate independently and show up confidently in negotiations.
• Comfort supporting a fast-moving, rapidly maturing sales organization, and translating legal complexity into practical guidance.
• Fastidious attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and energized by standing up process rather than inheriting it.
• AI-forward, builder’s mindset, with a demonstrated ability to use AI tools to streamline daily workflows and accelerate efficiency.

Total compensation for this role also includes meaningful equity in a fast-growing startup, along with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Base salary is determined by a range of factors including individual qualifications, experience, skills, market data, and work location.
