Job summary

MyOme, a biotechnology company in San Francisco, seeks its first dedicated contracts and commercial legal resource. You will own the full lifecycle of commercial, vendor, and partner agreements, partnering with the SVP Corporate Operations (GC) and a Sr. Corporate Paralegal.

You will lead contract policy, templates, and risk review, while advising business stakeholders in plain language. This in-house role offers growth as MyOme scales and expands.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state.
• Bar admission in California required; waivers welcome for CA bar.
• Minimum seven years after law school with meaningful in-house experience.
• Experience in life sciences, genomics, digital health, or healthcare tech preferred.
• Experience using AI to augment legal reviews, processes, and contracts management.
• Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts independently.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to explain legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements including customer contracts, vendor agreements, MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, data use agreements, and partnership/licensing deals
• Serve as the primary point of contact for contract-related matters across commercial, R&D, and operations teams
• Maintain and continuously improve our contract templates, playbooks, and approval workflows
• Advise business stakeholders on contract risk, obligations, and compliance in plain language
• Support due diligence and legal review for business development and partnership opportunities
• Coordinate with outside counsel as needed on complex or specialized matters
• Ensure contracts are properly executed, stored, and tracked through their lifecycle
• Contribute to the development of internal legal policies and procedures as the company grows

Job description

MyOme's mission is to provide clinically actionable genetic information to patients throughout their lives. We combine clinical-grade whole genome sequencing, advanced AI methods for genome interpretation, and seamless digital tools for doctors and patients to order and access results. Position Overview:

We're adding our first dedicated contracts and commercial legal resource, reporting into the SVP of Corporate Operations (GC). This is a high-visibility, high-ownership role for someone who is energized by being a true business partner — not just a reviewer. You'll manage the full lifecycle of our commercial, vendor, and partner agreements, and help build the legal infrastructure that will support MyOme as we scale. You'll work closely with our Corporate Operations Manager (Sr. Corporate Paralegal), collaborating as a tight-knit legal function embedded in the business.

This role offers genuine room to grow. As MyOme expands, so does the scope of this position.

What You'll Do:

What You'll Need:

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state
• Bar admission in California required; candidates currently admitted in another state who are eligible to waive into the California Bar are welcome to apply
• Minimum seven (7) years out of law school, with meaningful in-house experience required — prior law firm background is a plus but in-house exposure is essential
• Experience in life sciences, genomics, digital health, or healthcare technology is strongly preferred
• Experience using AI to augment legal reviews, processes, and contracts management
• Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts independently
• Exceptional attention to detail — you catch things others miss, and you care about getting it right
• Ability to communicate legal concepts clearly and pragmatically to non-legal stakeholders
• Comfortable operating with autonomy in a lean, fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with data privacy considerations (HIPAA, state privacy laws) is a plus
• Experience with contract lifecycle management tools is a plus

Location, Compensation, and Benefits:

• Location: Hybrid role, 2 days a week onsite at our San Francisco, CA office (near Montgomery BART). Occasional travel required for team meetings.
• Compensation: Base salary range of $185,000 - $195,000, depending on experience, with bonus eligibility and equity.
