Job Summary: Project Superintendent is responsible for coordinating all site construction activities and supervising all subcontract personnel, from project start through final acceptance by the client. They act as a liaison with the client, architect, and subcontract/vendor contacts related to the project. They function as a representative of H. J. High Construction in resolving construction issues, interfacing with the Project Manager, overseeing project staff, and administering all activities related to executing submittals, documentation, and schedules. The Project Superintendent is directly responsible for the timeliness and quality of the work and implementation and monitoring of corporate safety policy.

Physical Functions: Must be able to bend, stoop, sit, stand, walk, climb scaffolding and ladder, reach, lift, pull, push, balance, crouch, crawl, kneel, and lift or carry weight up to 75 pounds. May be exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions, chemical hazards, respiratory hazards, cold weather, and hot weather. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Consistently conduct oneself in a manner that reflects positively upon H. J. High Construction.
  2. In conjunction with the project manager, develop, administer, and update the short-term project schedule through to completion of the project.
  3. Supervise, coordinate, direct, and evaluate all on-site activities.
  4. Implement companywide safety rules for employees, subcontractors & visitors.
  5. Ensure compliance with OSHA statutes.
  6. Ensure compliance of the work with contract documents, approved submittals, and H. J. High’s quality standards.
  7. Supervise and administer the punch list within contract time requirements.
  8. Execute project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate policy including safety management/adherence.
  9. Control and manage the construction effort to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
  10. Interface with client representatives, A/E representatives, other contractors, local building and permitting municipalities, etc.
  11. Monitor/control construction through administrative support of, and coordination with Project Manager and Project Administrator as necessary.
  12. Attend and support weekly coordination meetings with all project parties.
  13. Perform additional assignments as directed by company executives.

Location: This position is located in Central Florida but may require some travel.

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Education:

  1. Minimum experience of 10+ years in commercial construction supervision.
  2. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Ability to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and subcontract agreements. Procore / Bluebeam knowledge is useful.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required. Professional conduct in a business environment is essential. Conflict resolution skills are helpful.
  5. Regular travel ability.
  6. Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.
  7. Multi-story tilt-wall experience preferred.
