HITT Contracting in Atlanta invites you to join our Commercial Construction Project Engineer track as part of the HITT Futures Program. This 12-month on-site development path is designed for new graduates, Veterans, and others passionate about advancing in construction leadership, with a fast track to promotion to assistant-level PM or superintendent.

You will shadow a dedicated Futures Program Sponsor, complete structured training, and gain hands-on experience on real projects within a 30–40

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; degree strongly preferred.
  • Military experience or an accredited degree in construction-related fields is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience on commercial job sites is highly valued.
  • Strong interest in on-site construction and safety.
  • Ability to learn sector- and project-specific software systems.
  • Ability to walk or stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow supervisors to learn day-to-day on-site operations.
  • Support project team with scheduling, budgeting, and client management as needed.
  • Assist in safety program implementation and daily quality checks.
  • Participate in site inspections and documentation updates.

With 14 operating office locations across the country, HITT offers a positive and inclusive, team-oriented work environment and is ranked as a top workplace from coast to coast.Responsibilities:Commit to being fully onsite for the duration of the 12-month training program to fully shadow, learn, and gain hands-on experience with the day-to-day operations of your assigned project(s)Demonstrate understanding of training topics throughout each phase of the first year, participating fully in performance reviews to ensure knowledge retention and development goals on a 4-month cadenceFollow all directions, task assignments and coaching offered by your dedicated Futures Program Sponsor (a tenured and experienced superintendent or above)Showcase required professional skills throughout the PE experience, such as the ability to:Communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally, with a strong focus on professional, audience-appropriate writing and verbal skillsOrganize and manage multiple tasks and priorities at the same timeDemonstrate integrity consistently with The HITT Way and our core valuesSeek continuous improvement of knowledge and abilities, internally focusing on self-improvement and taking initiativeAdapt and exercise flexibility within the ever-changing world of construction technology, design, means, and methodsCollaborate with people of various backgrounds while maintaining relationships with colleagues, clients, subcontractors, and vendorsExhibit conscientiousness by being punctual, engaged, and respectful of othersMaster required job-specific and technical skills in order to promote to an assistant superintendent or assistant project manager following the 12-month training program including, but not limited to, the ability to:Set up and maintain jobsite office and all jobsite records, including project directory, construction documents, subcontractor directory, daily reports, submittal logs, RFI logs, subcontractor correspondence, etc.Make updates to as-built drawings as directed and interpret basic coordination drawingsDirect installation of building and site protection, including signage and postings, and identify items required to “make safe” prior to demolitionAssist in specific construction tasks as directedParticipate in site inspections to ensure HITT’s expectations for quality and workmanship are metMake periodic updates to the project schedule as directedComplete basic material take-offs, place supplier orders, and receive delivery of materialsAssist the superintendent in the use of survey and layout instrumentsBe able to interpret basic tests and reports (air balance, soils report, concrete test)Set up and run a subcontractor foremen’s meeting when directed by the SuperintendentUnderstand cost implications and consequences associated with specific construction tasks at various stages of a projectAssist Project Managers with logistical tasks, including budgeting and client management, as neededAssist in the implementation of HITT’s Corporate Safety Program by conducting weekly safety meetings, toolbox talks, and completing all required safety reports when directedRequired to commute to a jobsite within a 30–40-mile radius of their assigned office locationQualifications:High school diploma requiredMilitary experience or an accredited Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or Business is strongly preferredPrevious experience on commercial job sites is strongly preferredPassion for construction industry and on-site workAbility to learn sector- and project-specific software systems, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office 365 (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.), ProCore, Adobe Suite, BlueBeam, and JD Edwards software suiteAbility to walk and/or stand for long periods of timeAbility to lift up to 50lbsHITT Contracting is an equal opportunity employer.
