Job summary

DCPS in Colorado seeks a Commercial Construction Estimator II to prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial projects. You will review plans, coordinate with vendors, and support proposals to win work.

In this office-based role, you’ll maintain supplier data, track costs, and use estimating tools to forecast budgets. A 3–6 year estimating background and a related bachelor’s degree are preferred; travel to sites is possible.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in construction estimating or a related field.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project management principles.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
• Proficiency in estimating software and tools such as Bluebeam, Excel, DocuSketch, and CompanyCam.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
• Review architectural plans and engineering drawings to fully understand project scope and requirements.
• Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, and project managers to gather pricing and clarify specifications.
• Support proposal preparation, including participation in client presentations as needed.
• Maintain and update a directory of suppliers, subcontractors, and pricing data.
• Track construction materials, trends, and cost changes to ensure accurate estimating.
• Utilize estimating software and tools to perform cost analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Maintain records of estimated versus actual project costs for benchmarking and continuous improvement.
• Assist with contract negotiations to ensure projects align with budget and scope expectations.
• Collaborate with project management teams to ensure estimates align with project execution and outcomes.
