Job summary

HITT Contracting Inc. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (Mission Critical) to help coordinate and distribute information, manage budgets, and support project leadership from pre-construction through closeout.

You will work closely with superintendents and site teams to keep projects on time and within budget. This role emphasizes safety adherence, documentation control, and effective communication with clients, vendors, and team members.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; four-year degree in construction, engineering, or business strongly preferred.
• In lieu of a degree, additional work experience is acceptable.
• 2–5 years’ experience in commercial construction, including experience with a commercial general contractor.
• Must demonstrate strong communication, audience-appropriate business writing and verbal skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain adherence to safety standards and company policies.
• Assist in creating and managing project budgets for assigned projects.
• Develop pre-construction RFP packages and review submittals and pay applications.
• Assist in conducting project meetings, setting milestones and owner reporting.
• Update project schedules and ensure quality control and logistics across projects.
• Collaborate with the project superintendent and site operations team throughout the project life cycle.

The APM is responsible to protect and promote the interest of both the business and client in all matters as well as demonstrate the personal characteristics of a beginner-level leader. While learning paths, growth and promotional opportunity vary, most team members are APMs for two to six years.ResponsibilitiesMaintain adherence to HITT’s standards of safetyEnsure that required documentation is filedAssist in creating and managing project budget for all assigned projectsDevelop pre-construction RFP packageAssist in conducting project meetings, setting milestones and formulating monthly owner reportEstablish job processes (RFIs, submittals, and pay applications) including approving pay applications and negotiating subcontract change ordersUpdate project schedule; ensure project quality control and establish overall project logisticsAssist in managing the closeout processCollaborate with the project superintendent and site operations team throughout the life of the projectQualificationsHigh school diploma required, four-year degree from an accredited university with a concentration in construction, engineering, or business is strongly preferredIn lieu of a degree, additional work experience is acceptable2-5 years’ experience in commercial construction, including experience with a commercial general contractorPrevious experience on commercial job sites strongly preferredPassion for construction and our industry; ability to recognize and seek qualityAbility to master sector/project-specific software systems including but not limited to: Microsoft Office suite (ex.
