Job description

We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support our commercial construction projects. The APM will coordinate information and authorizations necessary to keep projects on time, within budget, and meeting quality standards. This role protects business and client interests while demonstrating leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain adherence to HITT safety standards.
• Ensure required documentation is filed.
• Assist in creating and managing project budgets for all assigned projects.
• Develop pre‑construction RFP packages.
• Assist in conducting project meetings, setting milestones, and formulating monthly owner reports.
• Establish job processes (RFIs, submittals, pay applications) including approving pay applications and negotiating subcontract change orders.
• Update project schedule; ensure quality control and overall project logistics.
• Assist in managing the closeout process.
• Collaborate with the project superintendent and site operations team throughout project life.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; four‑year degree in construction, engineering, or business strongly preferred (in lieu of a degree, additional work experience is acceptable).
• 2–5 years of commercial construction experience, including work with a commercial general contractor.
• Prior experience on commercial job sites strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), ProCore, Adobe, BlueBeam, JD Edwards.
• Strong communication, both written and verbal, with audience‑appropriate business tone.
• Positive attitude and passion for construction and industry.
• Ability to gather data, interpret, and communicate insights clearly.
• Strong organizational and task‑prioritization skills.
• Demonstrated integrity, continuous learning, adaptability, and collaboration across diverse teams.
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with colleagues, clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
