Job summary
The City of Phoenix Planning & Development Department seeks a Commercial Combination Inspector to work in the Inspections Division. The role focuses on field reviews, plan examination, and ensuring compliance with IBC, NEC, IMC, IPC, IFGC, and accessibility standards for commercial and multi-family projects.
Ideal candidates will have a strong commercial inspection and plan review background, knowledge of ICC codes, and the ability to read plans.
Qualifications
- Two years of experience reviewing plans, schedules, and data to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Must obtain ICC Building Plans Examiner certification by end of probation, plus one ICC/IAEI/IFGC/IPC equivalent certification.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and communicate findings clearly.
Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings and perform inspections for residential and commercial projects.
- Determine conformance with IBC, NEC, IMC, IPC, IFGC, and ANSI/A117.1 codes and accessibility standards.
- Coordinate with applicants, contractors, and city staff to resolve compliance issues.
