Job summary

EMCOR Services Mesa Energy is seeking an experienced HVAC technician to maintain and repair central plant equipment, including large chillers, pumps and cooling towers, in Mesa, AZ. The role covers testing, commissioning, and ongoing preventative maintenance, with on‑call responsibilities to support emergencies.

Requires 5 years journeyman level HVAC experience, EPA certification, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 5 years of journeyman level HVAC experience with technical schooling.
• Commercial/industrial air conditioning experience required.
• EPA certification is required.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair central plant equipment, including chillers 100 tons and larger, motors, pumps, valves, controls, cooling towers, vane axial fans, and other auxiliary equipment.
• Overhaul centrifugal chillers (a plus).
• Provide on‑site support and recommended repairs from delivery to completion.
• Be available for emergency service calls on‑call through rotation.
• Perform testing, programming, start‑ups, and commissioning of systems.
• Schedule and manage site‑wide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks for chillers, cooling towers, and central plant equipment.
• Conduct daily and monthly preventative maintenance on related equipment.
• Ensure tasks are completed within scheduled time frames and maintain client relationships.

Job description

We are a full-service HVAC, building automation, chiller, and retrofit contractor with a reputation for combining high-quality consulting services with customized energy solutions. Our integrated, single-source solutions include turnkey in-house capabilities with design assistance, as well as engineering applications and automated control systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair central plant equipment, including chillers 100 tons and larger, motors, pumps, valves, controls, cooling towers, vane axial fans, and other auxiliary equipment.
• Overhaul of centrifugal chillers a plus.
• Familiar with all aspects of rigging.
• Support the office with recommended repairs from delivery to completion.
• Availability for emergency service calls "on-call" through normal rotation.
• Responsible for end-to-end testing, programming, start-ups, and commissioning.
• Schedule and manage site-wide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair duties for chillers, cooling towers, and central plant equipment.
• Perform daily and monthly preventative maintenance on all associated equipment of chillers, cooling towers, and central plant equipment.
• Ensure completion of maintenance within the scheduled month and allocated time.
• Maintaining positive relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of all on-site equipment.
• Attend monthly safety meetings.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Work directly with the Chiller Field Supervisor on new and existing customer opportunities or issues.

Qualifications

• 5 years of work experience at the journeyman level and technical schooling.
• Commercial/Industrial air conditioning experience required.
• Knowledge of Chiller, HVAC, and Central Plants.
• HVAC large tonnage field knowledge is required.
• Must be available for emergency service calls "on call" through normal rotation.
• EPA certified.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Location: Mesa, Arizona

Compensation Range: $40 - $90 per hour; the hourly rate is determined by the CBA/rate sheet and test results.
