Salary: $29.51/hr. - $45.28/hr., commensurate with experience and location

Position: Remote

Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Cargo Adjuster to investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex cargo claims across multiple states. This role requires deep expertise in commercial trucking operations, cargo liability laws, and policy interpretation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience handling high-exposure claims, negotiating settlements, and analyzing intricate coverage issues. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage claims involving multimodal transport, contractual disputes, and regulatory compliance are essential.

Responsibilities:
  1. Investigate cargo loss or damage claims by consulting witnesses, reviewing police reports, and gathering supporting evidence.
  2. Analyze policy coverage, bills of lading, and contracts of carriage to determine liability and claim validity.
  3. Evaluate claims involving commercial trucking operations, regulatory compliance, and high-value cargo losses.
  4. Negotiate fair claim settlements with policyholders, shippers, carriers, and third-party entities while mitigating company exposure.
  5. Oversee claims payment processes to ensure timely and accurate disbursement to policyholders.
  6. Identify and pursue subrogation opportunities to recover losses from responsible parties.
  7. Collaborate with legal teams on disputed or litigated claims, providing detailed documentation and case analysis.
  8. Stay updated on cargo liability laws, industry trends, and best practices to enhance claims handling processes.
  9. Adhere to GEICO Code of Conduct, company policies, and operating principles.
  10. Meet attendance standards at the business location to perform necessary job functions and facilitate interaction with management and co-workers.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1 year of commercial cargo experience
  • Ability to perform essential functions such as seeing, hearing, typing, and speaking, with or without accommodations
  • Professional telephone communication skills
  • Ability to attain and maintain necessary licenses issued by various state insurance departments
  • Ability to handle high call volume in a fast-paced environment, resolve complex issues
  • Follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts, and prioritize effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking ability
  • Willingness to learn and apply technical and procedural information
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules based on staffing and call volume needs
Salary Range:

Annual salary: $25.44 - $39.17

This range is a guideline; final compensation depends on experience, education, location, and other factors.
