Job description

Join the Facilities Management team as a Commercial Building Maintenance Engineer II and become part of a great crew at a stable company with supportive co-workers and managers.

This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position working our evening shift from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Some weekend hours are required, with a 10% shift differential.

Maintenance Engineers are vital to the university's success, responsible for keeping the university operational 24/7. Our department follows a generalist model, handling senior-level maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

On-call duties and occasional overtime may be required.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post-secondary education preferred (technical/trade school, college, or university).
  • Formal training in HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of building maintenance experience in a commercial setting, with strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Trade Journeyman, 3rd Grade Engineers License, and/or backflow certifications are highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and replacing lighting systems, including retrofitting to LED.
  • Experience working with 208/120 Volt 3-phase and 480/277 Volt 3-phase systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety procedures.
  • Experience operating drain cleaning machines.
  • Knowledge of steam, condensate, and pressure-reducing valves, as well as troubleshooting and maintaining related systems.
  • Experience with refrigerant systems, boilers, chillers, and related HVAC equipment.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, pumps, motors, and air handling units.
  • Experience with commercial and residential kitchen equipment is a plus.
  • Self-motivated with excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding and embodying Creighton's vision and mission.
Required Licenses/Certifications:

Valid driver's license for at least 6 months, a clean driving record over the past 3 years, and no major violations in the last 5 years.
