Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 8+ years of experience in commercial construction (concrete, roofing, siding, drywall, or related fields).
• Allen County Contractor License, Inspector Certification, ability to achieve license within 12 months from hire.
• Working knowledge of structural, electrical, plumbing, and safety codes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
• Strong communication skills—you can work effectively with contractors and design professionals.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and reporting tools).
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections on commercial construction projects, including new builds, remodels, and renovations.
• Ensure compliance with local and state building codes.
• Work closely with contractors, architects, and property owners to explain requirements and resolve violations.
• Investigate complaints and address structural and safety concerns.
• Document inspections, prepare detailed reports, and track compliance.
• Perform follow-up inspections to confirm corrective actions.
• Interpret and apply building codes across multiple disciplines (structural, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
