Commercial Boiler & Burner Service Technician

Join an Established Commercial Boiler Service Company

Seeking a motivated and skilled Commercial Boiler & Burner Service Technician to join our growing service team. This position is open to experienced technicians as well as developing technicians with relevant hands-on experience. We are looking for someone who is dependable, mechanically skilled, eager to improve, and committed to providing high-quality service.

You will troubleshoot, maintain, and repair commercial boiler and burner systems throughout New York City and the surrounding service area.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, service, and repair commercial boilers and burners.
• Perform preventive maintenance, scheduled repairs, and emergency service.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, ignition, combustion, and control-related problems.
• Work on steam and hot-water boiler systems.
• Service gas-fired and oil-fired burners.
• Read wiring diagrams, schematics, equipment manuals, and technical drawings.
• Test boiler controls, safety devices, motors, pumps, valves, ignition systems, and related components.
• Replace worn or defective parts and verify proper equipment operation.
• Assist senior technicians with complex troubleshooting when needed.
• Clearly communicate equipment conditions and repair recommendations.
• Complete accurate service reports documenting work performed, findings, recommendations, and parts used.
• Maintain an organized company vehicle, tools, equipment, and service inventory.
• Follow company procedures and all applicable safety requirements.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of hands-on experience in boiler service, burner service, HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, industrial maintenance, or a closely related mechanical trade.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic electrical troubleshooting ability.
• Experience using hand tools, electrical meters, and service equipment.
• Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions.
• Willingness to learn advanced boiler, burner, combustion, and control troubleshooting.
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a service team.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to safely lift and carry tools, parts, and equipment commonly used in boiler service work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience servicing commercial boilers or burners.
• Experience with steam and hot-water heating systems.
• Experience with gas-fired or oil-fired equipment.
• Knowledge of boiler controls, safety devices, and ignition systems.
• Experience performing combustion testing and burner adjustments.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or trade-school training.
• Familiarity with building automation systems and HVAC controls.
