Job summary

Garmin Ltd. is seeking a full-time Commercial Aviation Sales Manager at our U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. You will lead the sale of avionics to airlines and OEMs, guiding strategy and managing key customer accounts with cross-functional teams.

You will build compelling product presentations, forecast demand, analyze margins, and travel to industry events. A strong aviation background, customer focus, and leadership in sales are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 5+ years of experience (or Master’s with 3+ years).
  • Private pilot or aviation knowledge is preferred.
  • Strong customer service record and ability to negotiate for mutual success.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel 50%+ and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Able to build persuasive product presentations and proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Sell Garmin avionics to airlines, OEMs, and related markets.

Job description

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Commercial Aviation Sales Manager at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for the sale of avionics products to the airline markets within your assigned product line, airlines or OEMs with periodic guidance.

Essential Functions
  • Possess the technical product knowledge sufficient to understand complex avionics systems and interoperability and advanced knowledge of the relevant aviation industry
  • Initiate and cultivate successful customer relationships, maximize partnership potential, and drive to consistently exceed customer expectations and sales objectives
  • Build and present product presentations demonstrating advanced knowledge of Garmin products and showing a high level of comfort presenting in front of customers
  • Effectively develop persuasive, well-organized, and informative proposals and program analysis in response to customer proposal requests
  • Manage relevant product line and/or customer accounts, including sales strategies, content, scope and customer demands and work with the internal team to coordinate customer contract negotiations effectively across cross-functional teams
  • Develop, review and revise OEM forecasts showing a high level of knowledge about each of your customers’ production forecast and average optional take rates for each model and requires consistent changes during forecast reviews and follows up afterwards to provide a high-level summary of changes upon request
  • Prepare and maintain ongoing margin analysis and program analysis with consistent management oversight with ability to present the prepared content to senior management
  • Build strong working relationships with each of your customer’s key point-of-contact making yourself known as the primary commercial representative for Garmin
  • Able to travel, coordinate, and represent Garmin at industry and professional meetings, trade shows and regional events to demonstrate products/articulate competitive benefits of Garmin products/systems and complete timely and succinct trip and status reports
  • Directly interface with customers, including Garmin dealers, fleets and end users by way of onsite travel, product presentations, email and phone correspondence, etc.
  • Contribute customer, market, and product knowledge to internal cross-functional teams and assist in collecting, compiling and presenting competitive intelligence internally
  • Demonstrate a moderate level of understanding of the avionics market, including relevant market participants, certificationprocesses, MRO related functions, etc.
  • Identify opportunities for expanding our product line to serve Aftermarket market needs
  • Represent Garmin in an enthusiastic and professional manner during interactions with media, government and regulatory officials
  • Act as a passionate customer ambassador/advocate and enthusiastically help customers with needs/concerns quickly
  • Assist in modifying marketing strategies, sales displays, brochures, rebates, promotions, and unique product requirements within appointed region
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR Master’s Degree AND a minimum of 3 years relevant experience
  • Private Pilot, aviation technical background, or proficiently demonstrate the ability to sell the added benefits of Garmin aviation products to customers
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and a proven track record for providing exemplary customer service and be a fair negotiator focused on mutual success
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated effective presentation skills and public speaking ability
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
  • Must be positive, detail and quality oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and work proactively in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Flexibility to travel (50% of time or greater)

  • Outside sales / B2B experience, specifically within the avionics domain
