    We are actively hiring for a Commercial Auto Physical Damage Appraiser in the San Francisco Bay Area!

    Your Role:

    Employee who works both virtually and in the field with significant authority over liability, coverage, physical damage assignments of high complexity and of commercial and/or special lines vehicle-type. Expert in all aspects of commercial non-injury related matters including total loss. Independently evaluates, negotiates, and settles physical damage and total loss claims along with other suffixes (i.e., loss of use, property damage), which includes evaluation and estimating mechanics.

    Responsible for Direct Repair Network (DRN) performance, management, and relationship to ensure financial and customer-driven results, including service level agreements, contract compliance and due diligence on shop background up to and including recommendation of adding / removing shops from program. Responsible for Open Shop estimation and repairs.

    Handles any commercial product types including but not limited to auto, fleet, general liability, last mile delivery, inland marine, excess & surplus. Will handle claims in any geographic venue.

    Handles claims involving any vehicle types that may include but is not limited to auto, motorcycles, scooters, recreational vehicles, autonomous driving vehicles, autonomous delivery vehicles, remote-controlled delivery vehicles, watercrafts, and trucks. Plays a direct role in the development of other Adjusters through mentorship, training, and coaching.

    Your work:

    • Responsible for vendor relationships, contract enforcement and due diligence; monitoring of shop performance through metrics analysis.
    • Viewed as senior resource in given field for department and/or unit.
    • Independently evaluates, negotiate and settles physical damage and total loss claims along with other suffixes (i.e. loss of use, property damage), which requires physical inspection and evaluation.
    • Prepares file for authority review with supervisor or manager.
    • Works within broad limits and authority on highly complex assignments requiring specialist knowledge.
    • Negotiates settlement of claim with insured, third party and attorneys.
    • Process payments appropriately and review with supervisor beyond authority, including resolving claims coverage issues.

    Required Experience, Education and Skills

    • Knowledge of auto repair estimates and systems, including commercial and special lines vehicles
    • BS/BA, or equivalent experience
    • Valid Driver's License
    • Must hold an Adjuster and Appraiser license for all applicable states or obtain license(s) within 90 days of start date for the position
    • 6+ years of physical damage estimating experience, preferably with time as both technician and writer
    • I-CAR certification or the ability to obtain within first year in position
    • High School (HS)/GED plus 3 years customer service experience in a virtual environment leveraging internet, phone, and chat features in the insurance industry

    • Ability to independently manage relationships and contracts with DRN shops to ensure performance goals are achieved

    • Basic math and computer skills along with the technical aptitude to utilize a variety of software applications

    • Basic math and intermediate computer skills with technical aptitude to utilize a variety of software applications, including Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Must be able to create and maintain the necessary reports and information to effectively capture the performance of field staff and independent adjusters
    • Expert in utilizing estimating software and systems
    • Ability to build and maintain a nation-wide shop/vendor date base Ability to interpret policy language and resolve claims coverage questions (CCQs)Ability to rate condition, run evaluation and to conclude total losses
