Latitude is seeking an experienced commercial attorney to serve as interim counsel for an innovative and mission-driven food company. This role will support the legal team during a period of planned leave coverage during June and potentially one week in May. The attorney will primarily focus on commercial transactions, contract drafting and negotiation, and marketing and regulatory reviews, while also providing litigation support on a small number of active matters.

The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts and supporting cross-functional teams (including food safety and marketing). Some experience handling regulations related to the food industry is strongly preferred. Experience with marketing review, regulatory compliance and basic litigation or arbitration procedures is also plus.

Requirements for the Commercial Attorney (In-House and Remote):

• 4+ years of experience with commercial transactions and contract negotiation
• Experience advising internal business teams and reviewing commercial agreements, including vendor and purchase/sale contracts
• Familiarity with marketing reviews or food industry regulations is strongly preferred
• Litigation support or arbitration experience is a plus
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Experience working in-house is preferred
• Licensed to practice law and in good standing in state of residence
• Outstanding references and excellent academic credentials from an accredited law school
  
  

Position Details of the Commercial Attorney (In-House and Remote):

• Type of role: Engagement
• Schedule: Full-time preferred during coverage period in June with the potential to assist one week in May
• Location: United States. Remote, with flexibility to join video calls and collaborate with internal teams during business hours
  
  

Compensation:

Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $175,000 to $210,000+ when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).

Benefits: In addition to pay, all Latitude Attorneys and other legal professionals working on contract engagements receive complimentary professional liability insurance coverage. All Latitude employees (including those on contract engagements) are also eligible for full benefits when working 20+ hours per week, including group medical, dental, and vision insurance, and complimentary group life, LTD and AD&D insurance. A qualified 401k plan is also available. Benefits-eligible Latitude Attorneys also receive a CLE and Professional Expense stipend.
