Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in product design projects, validation, root cause analysis.

• HVAC or related engineered product environment experience preferred.
• Proficiency with standard engineering and business software tools.

Responsibilities

• Meet customer requirements by documenting, understanding and prioritizing needs.
• Apply technical expertise to design problems and validate product fit for various applications.
• Participate in cross-functional project teams to meet performance, reliability, cost and schedule objectives.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
• Travel may be required (domestic and international, ~10%).
• Support risk assessments, design reviews and problem-solving activities for safe, reliable designs.

What's in it for you: As a Mechanical Engineer at Trane, you will be responsible for designing the equipment and systems that support these goals. You will collaborate with engineering teams, develop concepts for new & improved commercial HVAC products and solve complex technical problems, leading to production of sustainable new products.

What you will do:

• Meet the needs of internal and external customers, through documenting, understanding and prioritizing customer requirements.
• Apply technical expertise to solve design problems or to gauge appropriateness of product to various applications.
• Participate on project teams to meet performance, reliability, cost and schedule objectives.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation, including 3D models, bills of materials, drawings, and specifications.
• Conduct design FMEAs; develop and execute resulting risk mitigation plans.
• Both domestic and international travel may be required. Estimated travel is 10%.
• Participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and problem-solving activities to support safe, reliable, and manufacturable designs.
• Help identify and implement design improvements that enhance product quality, manufacturability, and customer satisfaction.
• Partner with manufacturing engineers to incorporate DFM principles into electrical designs and documentation to improve quality, safety, and assembly efficiency.
• Work with lab engineers to ensure customer witness test readiness and support validation of electrical system performance.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to quality, reliability, and field issues.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and related product records.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, manufacturing, quality, and product management to support business objectives.
• Support year-over-year cost and margin improvement initiatives.

What you will bring:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences (BS) in Engineering Discipline.
• 2+ years experience contributing to technical aspects of product design projects, validation testing, and root cause analysis.
• Ability to work effectively across engineering, design, operations, and manufacturing teams.
• Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and make progress across concurrent assignments.
• Experience in HVAC, air handling equipment, or related engineered product environments preferred.
• Proficiency with standard engineering and business software tools.
