In the role of Area Market Sector Leader, we'll count on you to:
  1. Have a focus on client management and development, serving as a client manager and project manager for future assignments and pursuits with key clients in the area.
  2. Identify and develop project opportunities, serve as a pursuit champion, and act as a resource for HDR pursuits.
  3. Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of large multi-discipline projects or medium-sized projects with a high degree of technical complexity.
  4. Assess the area's marketplace and determine the best business approach to win and secure contracts.
  5. Work cross-sector with other market sectors and business groups for business development efforts.
  6. Serve as the Client Manager for key clients within the region and be active in the industry.
  7. Promote HDR services to clients, collaborating with client managers.
  8. Work with Business Group Managers on market sector initiatives.
  9. Drive client development and pursuit processes with client development leaders.
  10. Support pursuits through client relationship development and strategy participation.
  11. Participate in industry associations and serve as a role model in business and community organizations.
  12. Identify key investments to maintain or enhance HDR's industry leadership.
  13. Build relationships with industry counterparts and senior client leadership.
  14. Enhance practices to perform well in the marketplace and provide staff growth opportunities.
  15. Lead resource planning and recruitment efforts for the market sector.
  16. Coordinate support of work sharing among departments.
  17. Drive technical excellence and support marketing efforts.
  18. Identify needs for new technical services and products.
  19. Coordinate staffing and recruiting plans with Market Sector Directors.
  20. Manage market sector profit and loss, project delivery, and QA/QC programs.
  21. Facilitate cooperation, monitor performance indicators, and implement process improvements.
  22. Ensure effective resource use and staff workload management.
  23. Assist with contract reviews to manage risk and ensure quality.
  24. Promote QA/QC and support technical expertise in marketing and projects.
  25. Share lessons learned and take on relevant project management assignments.
  26. Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineering licensure in Missouri or Kansas
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration
