We have an exciting opportunity for a Command and Data Handling System Engineer to join the team with Aerodyne.

The Command and Data Handling System Engineer will:

  1. Support the Gateway Command and Data Handling (C&DH) System, a critical sub-system of the Gateway Program which will return to the Moon.
  2. Review designs and develop models for performance and reliability analysis.
  3. Work with Ethernet and internet protocols to optimize Quality of Service, end systems, network switches, and wireless design.
  4. Support cybersecurity efforts, including applying NIST 800-53 standards.
  5. Conduct product life cycle reviews, coordinate integration, verification, and validation activities.
  6. Work with requirements to align with hardware specifications while understanding the verifications.
  7. Perform system engineering functions of projects and provide user input feedback during the design process.
  8. Work with ground testing and flight operations testing of hardware with end item documentation.
  9. Participate and contribute to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews.
  10. Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall electrical design and performance.
  11. Experience with Technical Review Boards (TRB) and Lifecycle reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.)
  12. Work with team members and leads to identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan risk responses.
  13. Review and be main POC for the NASA C&DH Subsystems towards COFR (Certification or Flight Readiness) activities.
  14. Perform other duties as required.
  15. Must have good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Job Requirements

  1. Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and normally possess 5-10 years of related experience.
  2. BS degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school.
  3. 12 years of relevant experience in systems engineering.
  4. Knowledge of space systems, aerospace engineering, or software development.
  5. Knowledge and understanding of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools and technologies including model-based systems engineering.
  6. Must have understanding of ethernet network architecture and network hardware technology Layer 2 and Layer 3.
  7. Must have understanding of interfaces protocols applicable in Avionics such as MIL 1553, Serial RS232/RS422/RS485, SpaceWire.
  8. Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes needed to develop test requirements.
  9. Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
  10. Experience working in a team environment.
