Job description

The combustion engineer is responsible for designing, installing, optimizing, and maintaining combustion systems, focusing on maximizing efficiency, minimizing emissions, and ensuring safety by analyzing fuel properties, developing combustion strategies, conducting tests, and troubleshooting issues within systems.

Key Result Accountabilities

  • Monitor and maintain existing combustion systems which include day-to-day tuning and maintenance of forging furnaces.
  • Diagnose and resolve operational issues related to combustion systems.
  • Analyze combustion processes to improve efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and optimize combustion parameters.
  • Evaluate fuel and material properties for combustion processes.
  • Interpret data to identify trends and recommend design modifications.
  • Effectively present and communicate findings in formal and informal reviews.
  • Develop strategies to minimize pollutant emissions from combustion systems, adhering to environmental standards.
  • Ensure combustion systems comply with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to other engineers and maintenance personnel.
  • Assist in facilitating uniformity surveys to AMS2750 standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in combustion engineering.
  • Experience in both mechanical and electronic tuning.
  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
  • Proficiency in combustion analysis tools and techniques.
  • Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge of advanced combustion modeling software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
