Job description

Position Summary

Plan, layout, weld, install, test, and repair all types of pipe and similar tubular products in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes, and industry standards.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Plan, diagram, and lay out work for pipe welding.
  2. Coordinate with field labor crews for efficient installations.
  3. Position weld setup, fit piping, and perform precise welds independently.
  4. Lay out and assemble pipes accurately according to standards, quality, safety, and design specifications.
  5. Make welding repairs and fix substandard welds.
  6. Assist with pre-fabrication layout and installation coordination.
  7. Assist with rigging of materials.
  8. Operate industry tools and equipment such as air arc gougers, grinders, stress relieving machines.
  9. Estimate sizes, distances, quantities, and determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed.
  10. Inspect subordinate’s work for compliance, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
  • Strong skills and abilities related to the position.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Proficient in the safe use of electrical, hand, power, and measurement tools.
Requirements
  • Ability to move constantly around construction/industrial sites, including standing, walking, reaching, and kneeling.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Work irregular hours, including weekends, overtime, and holidays.
  • Use ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical platforms to access work areas.
  • Work in confined, cluttered, and uneven environments.
  • Complete tasks in noisy and dusty conditions.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Possess required tools and pass RMD weld testing.
  • Follow safety and project rules, and pass drug, medical, and background checks.
