Job description

Position Summary

Plan, lay-out, weld, install, test, and repair all types of pipe and similar tubular products in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes, and industry standards.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
  1. Plan, diagram, and lay out pipe welding work.
  2. Coordinate with field labor crew for efficient installations.
  3. Position the weld setup, fit piping, and perform welds independently with high precision.
  4. Lay out and assemble pipes accurately according to standards, quality, safety, code, design, and specifications.
  5. Make welding repairs and correct substandard welds.
  6. Assist with pre-fabrication layout or installation coordination.
  7. Assist with rigging of materials.
  8. Operate industry machines and tools such as air arc gouger, grinder, stress relieving machine.
  9. Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities; determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed.
  10. Inspect subordinate work for compliance, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Effective communication skills, ability to follow instructions.
  • Proficient in the safe use of electrical, hand, power, and measurement tools.
Requirements
  • Ability to move constantly on a construction/industrial site, including standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, crouching, crawling.
  • Work in outdoor weather conditions, irregular hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays.
  • Use ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical platforms, climb and maintain balance.
  • Work in confined, cluttered, and uneven environments, and in noisy/dusty conditions.
  • Lift items up to 50 pounds; pass weld testing, safety rules, drug tests, medical, and background checks.
