A leading healthcare facility is seeking a Combined Laboratory / X-Ray Technologist I. This role involves performing laboratory procedures and diagnostic imaging, working independently and as part of a team. The position offers a variety of shifts and requires a diploma in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology.
This opportunity is eligible for the recruitment incentive with return of service agreement. The Valleyview Health Centre is actively hiring a CLXT I. Where you’ll have the opportunity to work both independently and as a member of our team. With your high level of organization, communication and interpersonal skills you’ll be responsible for performing site specific manual and automated laboratory procedures and diagnostic imaging exams.Your strong attention to detail and time management skills will flourish as you enter, review, report and distribute patient results, perform quality control procedures and maintain records. You’ll receive and review imaging requests for complete pertinent clinical and order information. You have an ability to encourage others and build positive, respectful and collaborative working relationships while assisting in the orientation and training of new staff and students.Valleyview is strategically located at important crossroads that lead to Peace River, Northwest Territories, British Columbia, the Yukon, and Alaska. June to August are generally warm and sunny month and daylight hours can last up to 17 hours at the peak of summer! Two provincial parks, Williamson and Young’s Point, are a major attraction to the region. Sturgeon Lake and the parks are used in summer and winter for fishing perch, walleye and whitefish. The region is a sportsman’s paradise for those who enjoy cross country and downhill skiing and snowmobiling.
As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist I, you will perform procedures in both the laboratory and in diagnostic imaging, typically in rural sites. You will work as a member of the inter-professional team and be responsible for collecting and analyzing biological specimens, conducting X-ray examinations, ECGs and reporting results. Your responsibilities include preparing patients, venipuncture and micropuncture, routine equipment maintenance, maintaining supplies and performing quality control procedures as required.
Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT).Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Additional Required Qualifications:APL currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Relocation assistance may be available.This role works a variety of shifts, with a requirement to respond to on call within 30 minutes. This position may require frequent physical demands that include walking, standing, bending, lifting, hand movements and extensive use of computers that may cause eye strain.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent training or previous CLXT experience and preferably in a rural setting is desirable.
